The clothing is used, but more time and effort were put into making the clothing article.  Better material and techniques were used in the past to make clothing that lasted longer since they didn't buy as much new clothes as we do today.

Recycling
By buying vintage clothing you are doing your part to save the environment and keep items out of landfills.  You aren’t using your money to pay for the natural resources used to produce new clothes, as well as the pollution caused by shipping or producing the clothing.
